Jon's MENSA Question of the Day

--posted by JRJ on 7/18/2006

Simon Walton was an inveterate fisherman, and his wife an inveterate objector - especially to cleaning fish. This time, he cut off her objections before they started by announcing he had sold his fish to another fisherman. "And it was a fairly large one too," he said. "The fish weighed ten pounds plus half its own weight." How many pounds of fish had he sold?

If it weighs twenty pounds, then half it's own weight is 10 pounds.
10 pounds plus 10 pounds = 20 Pounds.
He sold 20 pounds of fish.
