Home Run Derby 2005
--posted by Tony Garcia on 7/12/2005
Last night was the Home Run Derby and tonight is the All-Star game. Last night, in the historically pitcher friendly Comerica Park according to its park factor, baseballs went a-flying. (And for those of you who actually thought about clicking the 'park factor' link, let me introduce you to the wonderful world of Sabermetrics: here, here, here, and most importantly, the group from where this branch of science was named, The Society for American Baseball Research).
Back to the Derby.
The results at FoxSports.
Bobby Abreau hit a Derby record 24 homers in the first round and went on to win by beating Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez.
Here are some ideas that I would like to see happen. These would spice up the Home Run Derby.
