Conversation with US PIRG
--posted by Tony Garcia on 8/09/2005I had an interesting conversation with a paid lackey from USPIRG. First we must understand what this group of freaks actually stands for. According to their stated positions these are among the many issues that they are out-to-lunch on: Campaign Finance Reform, Private Property Rights, and Global Warming. They miss the boat on many, many, many other issues.
Anyway, they hired a bunch of empty-headed college students to stand on street corners at the University to scratch out opposition to Bush's energy policy. Here is (as best as I can recall it) a conversation with one of those "geniuses".
USPIRG Paid Employee: Do you want to help the environment?
Tony Garcia: I think so. I try to recycle every now and then.
USPIRG: Well, we have a petition here because George Bush is trying to drill in Alaska for...
Tony: He is?
USPIRG: Yes.
Tony: That's a lot of work for one person. How is that going?
USPIRG: Well, not him personally, but he's trying to give business to his cronies and...
Tony: His cronies? You mean he's going to hire out the drilling?
USPIRG: Yes.
Tony: To his friends?
USPIRG: Yes.
Tony: He better have a lot of friends willing to do that kinds of labor.
USPIRG: (sigh) They own the businesses that will do the work.
Tony: Jobs, huh?
USPIRG: But it will harm the environment which is why...
Tony: Wait, I didn't know it was legal to drill in Alaska.
USPIRG: Bush wants to make it legal.
Tony: Yeah, but he doesn't make the laws...does he?
USPIRG: He controls the Senate and the House leaders...
Tony: Like puppets?
USPIRG: Exactly. He controls the Senate and the House leaders...
Tony: What do their voters think about not having representatives with minds of their own?
USPIRG: They are Republican. They don't care as long as they follow Bush's orders.
Tony: Kind of a sick love affair.
USPIRG: Yep.
Tony: But how can they pass those laws that Bush orders?
USPIRG: They have a majority in the House and Senate.
Tony: But I thought the Democrats are fighting the evil Republicans with filibuster-something-or-other.
USPIRG: That is only for the judges.
Tony: So the right-wingers are lying about filibusters never being used against judges before?
USPIRG: Yes.
Tony: And so Bush-the-Bastard is going to make it legal to drill in Alaska?
USPIRG: Yes.
Tony: And you're here to spread the truth about his evil policies.
USPIRG: Yes.
Tony: I assume you are fair and objective, so I should be able to believe you.
USPIRG: Yes.
Tony: I have to be honest. Not that I pay much attention since I voted for Jesse, but if a man is smart enough to make his opponents think he's a dumb dunce and at the command of Rove & Cheney, all while unleashing a plot to control the leaders of the Senate and the House while usurping the filibuster that Wellstone used to use religiously, all while still making us think he's stupid and passing laws like a monarchy instead of a tri-lateral government with a bi-cameral leglislative branch...I have to tell you...that man is a f***ing genius and now after talking with you I give this man my allegiance on anything he asks. I'll sign the fair and objective petition that supports him.
USPIRG: (to the next person walking by) Can you spare a moment for the environment?
Idiots.

Here's the kicker, you should have asked if they were registering people to vote.
This is an easy scal, have a petition that supports some (liberal) cause then when the mark signs the petition, you hit them with "would you like to register to vote"
It's a way to get liberal voters registered.
If you ask them and they lie about registering voters, that's illegal.
If they don't register you, that's illegal.
