I am on Media Matters...kind of

--posted by Tony Garcia on 5/26/2006

Media Matters is a liberal media watchdog that tries finds reasons every conservative on the air should be removed. Well, Glenn Beck is no different. However, I ended up on there because of a call I made to Glenn Beck.

They were talking about the Moussaoui verdict. Callers were supposed to advocate for or against the death penalty (since Glenn is on the fence). Considering that I go back and forth I figured I would be the first to justify the on the fence position.

Check out the transcript and/or the audio here.

See, this is another example of how and why you find it so easy to float between political extremes..you havn't given anything that dribbles out of your pie-hole enough consideration.

If your though process is so lacking in direction that you can't decide whether you think it's OK or not for a state entity to execute someone who has been subdued and incarcerated, and who therefore by definition can no longer pose a threat then you should not be attempting to articulate (however poorly) a position on anything else.

Life and death is about as clear cut as it gets...You've got some self development work to do kiddo.

I used to think you were harsh but thoughtful. Now I realize that you are an absolute idiot.

If you truly cannot realize why thoughtful people are able to be torn on the death penalty then you are as ignorant as your detractors claim.

But then again, I also gave you credit for understanding what you speak about before speaking...I'm not 100%, ardent pro-life. There are some serious questions that cannot be resolved, especially with the death penalty.

In fact, there is a very compelling social contract (in the Locke style, NOT in the Hobbes style) to me made to execute murderers.

Alas, I'm expecting to much thought from a mere partisan hack like yourself.

For someone who thinks so little of what I write you sure do show up here a lot. And link here a lot. And send enough traffic here for me.

Thank you.

Did you even LISTEN to the clip or are you spouting without understanding? Have you ever heard the Glenn Beck program? Maybe the toungue-in-cheek nature of the segment eludes you in the same way it eludes the vacuous folks at Media Matters.

I'm commenting on what YOU have written on YOUR blog, I could give a shit what the clip says.

Listen Mr. thoughtful conservative, I'm betting you would find a side to take real quick when it was YOUR ass on the line.

Since 2000, 38 men sentenced to death have been exonerated, and according to this site

http://72.14.203.104/search?q=cache:sfYzWcz9chQJ:www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/article.php%3Fscid%3D6%26did%3D110+death+sentence+exonerated&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=2

they averaged 9.5 years on death row.

I'm no pacifist; it's been rumoured that I carried long before I recieved a license to do so and trust me, if someone threatens me or my family I won't hesitate for a millisecond to use that license to it's fullest possible extent.

But if someone killed one of my kids and escaped my immediate retribution to the safety of a prison cell the question has been resolved.

Civilized people do not allow proxies to strap their foes down on a gurney and kill them like animals after the fact for any reason and only a miserable, worthless coward would find relief in watching such a spectacle.

I don't trust the government to pick up my trash competantly, you think I would cheer it on when it comes to matters of life and death outside a theater of battle?

You got a lot to learn before you can strap a conservative badge on your chest pal.

Oh, and by the way.

Since you seem to be uniquely in touch with them, please ask my "detractors" why I never hear from them personally.

And on the flip side, I have no problem with someone like Tookie Williams being put to death...kind of that crime & punishment thing. Hmm, I guess you're right, conservatives are NOT about being hard on crime & for punishment, right.

I also did not realize that conservatives were in 100% agreement on the death penalty.
