The Growing Secession Protest

Before continuing with this discussion let's get a few things clear to ensure we understand a few of my premises.

First, no reasonable person should believe that these petitions for secession being filed at the White House's "We The People" website have any chance of action. They also will get nothing more from the President than some respectful platitudes of how we will "have to work together" (read 'you will have to sacrifice your beliefs in the name of compromise while I won the White House and will compromise by giving up very little') and that it is important that the petitioners' voices are heard (read 'you had your chance to whine now shut the f*** up'). Detractors will pass the movement off as only sour grapes, but there is some importance to these petitions. Blowing it off as sore losers is dangerous.

Second, if a state actually started action to secede then I want to be right there. At this point I believe we are skirting on the verge of "Government becom[ing] destructive" and that the Government cogs have forgotten that it they are "deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed". Pro-expansion of government people have forgotten that the government that provides everything must take it all from others...and eventually the consent of those others, no matter how minority they are, will go away.

Finally, while I hope for a secession movement to actually move forward and do so as peacefully as practical, I am not confident that it will be peaceful. It may even result in another civil war. But freedom is never free and always costs blood to retain. A price, though, that is not too steep for the fruits of freedom itself.

As of yesterday there were seven states that had collected over 25,000 signatures on the online petition at the White House's website. That threshold is what is needed to earn a response from the President.

The petition filed by Texas residents has racked up about 100,000 signatures. Six others from Louisiana, Florida, North Carolina, Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee have collected 30,000.

It is nothing new for people to say they are leaving the country because of how an election goes. Look at the number of Hollywood geniuses who promised they would leave (and sadly never did follow through). The difference here is I believe most of these people are willing to take action as well...or demand action. With Texas amassing over 100,000 signatures already it is a likely possibility that there will be pressure on state legislatures to actually engage in action. The actions may fail to move far at first in the Texas legislature but the pressure will continue. People will dismiss the actions and demonize those engaged in it (look at how respectfully the Tea Party groups are treated even by the media, much less the opposition). There will be hateful speech (un-prosecuted hate speech, by the way) against the secessionists. But with growing and continual pressure (which will get amped up as Obamacare's and other federal impositions effects become more real to the individual) the actions will start getting close to success (close to passage in the legislature, becoming an actual campaign issue for Texas gubernatorial races, etc). And then we can look back at this warning.

That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

The "evils" from the federal government are reaching a point of not being sufferable to a large portion of the population. Think about the percentage of Great Britain's population that the Revolutionaries represented compared to the entire United Kingdom. Compare that percentage to what you have as of right now where over 675,000 people have signed secession petitions.

These are all a protest and nothing more at this point. But when the media so dramatically covered the Occupy protests (held by people who claimed they spoke for half of a nation that didn't support them in any manner) some people actually thought the Occupy movement's size warranted attention to their complaints. At best count (which unfortunately comes from Wikipedia, so the validity of the size may be overstated) the movement peaked at 75,311. Even if adding in an extremely generous doubling of the median for the locations reported without a figure (median = 100, no figures for 263 locations) the movement's peak numbers were just over 101,000. And that collection of give-me-everything-without-working-for-it-myself was given credibility based solely on their numbers.

The secession signatories are so far easily over 600% the size of the Occupy protests at it peak. Listen to that group or risk a terrible collision course within the next 10 years.

Heed the warning of the Declaration of Independence quoted above, "...when a long train of abuses and usurpations...it is their duty, to throw off such Government..." And heed this warning from me. Dismiss the secessionists now at your huge peril later. Trample on them too much now and you will hasten the collision course for actions towards secession.

NAACP Runs Polling Station

I read this story and I knew two things.

There would be some people who would not find a problem with this story is the first.

The second is that those people would have a melt down if the roles were reversed.

Let's demonstrate (though I know the hypocrite-partisan-hacks will not fess up).

According to Eve Rockford, a poll watcher trained by voter integrity group True the Vote, three NAACP members showed up to the 139 precinct location with 50 cases of bottled water and began handing bottles out to people standing in line. While wearing NAACP labeled clothing, members were "stirring the crowd" and talking to voters about flying to Ohio to promote President Barack Obama.

At this point, NAACP members were instructed to turn their clothing inside out, which they refused to do and said they weren’t going to stop their actions inside the polling place. Their behavior and actions to move people to the front of the line continued for the rest of the evening. Texas State Representative Sylvester Turner, a former Texas NAACP leader, was also seen outside the building talking with voters.

“The NAACP basically ran this poll location and the judges did nothing about it,” Rockford said.

One of those versions is the real one and the other edited to illustrate a point. If only one version got you upset then you are likely a partisan hack. Both of these should strike you as being wrong. Having the state representative there makes the story even more appalling. That election officials did nothing is shameful.

I personally would be deeply bothered regardless of which version of the story is true. One would shock me. I would be shocked to hear of such blatant disregard for the laws in an organized manner from the Tea Party.

The real story is the version with the NAACP. And this behavior is of no surprise.

Iowa Joins Texas In Telling UN To Bug Off

The United Nations has long been after deteriorating the sovereignty of nations including the United States. We are treated horrifically by the members even though we provide a large portion of the budget and the lion's share of the military power.

So when wise people tell the UN to take a flying leap I feel hope. The latest is the state of Iowa joining Texas telling the UN election observers they cannot be in the polling stations on election day.

Iowa Secretary of State Matt Schultz — like Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott last week — on Tuesday threatened Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe election observers with arrest if they came within 300 feet of a polling place’s entrance, in violation of state law. (In Texas, it’s 100 feet.)

Good. Keep 'em out. The UN is rarely something good.

Voter ID Opponents Do A Facepalm

I bet the folks against requirements to show ID to vote are doing a facepalm over this story. Remember, one of the main tenets of the anti-ID crowd is that there is no voter fraud. I have people tell me that in this state it is impossible. My take is that human nature being what it is and politics being as divided as it is that it is folly to ignore human nature. It is human nature to "stretch the truth" and play in the grey areas...to test the limits and stretch the boundaries.

So when the field director of Jim Moran (D-VA) gets busted on video advising someone how to fraudulently cast votes it makes me wonder how the anti-Safe Election crowd will respond. What is worse is that the field director was telling how to cast those votes...by forging utility bills. And they won't be able to dismiss it as one rogue person. The field director was advising that, if caught, the person could rely on Democrat lawyers to help.

The son of Rep. Jim Moran, D-Va. – who serves as the field director for his father’s campaign – has been caught on video advising an undercover reporter how to fraudulently cast ballots in the name of registered voters by forging utility bills and relying on the assistance of Democrat lawyers.

But, you would say to me, this works on both sides. I'm sure it does. But I don't hear anywhere near as many stories about organized voter fraud on the Right as I do on the Left. In fact, I have never heard of an organized effort on the Right. I have been on mailing lists for organizations across the spectrum from Green Party to Constitution Party and I left some of them for using those mailing list to organize voter fraud. Specifically, that was the Green Party at the U of MN who was trying to organize busing people to Iowa to allow them to vote both in MN and in IA. They were also organizing groups to take advantage of same day registration and vote in multiple locations including at home and at school.

I guarantee if there were as many any stories about Right-leaning groups engaged in this crap then the Left would not be fighting so strongly against the ID Requirements to vote. Wait, I take that back. After the 2000 election the Left suddenly wanted to scrap the Electoral College. (Aside: I wonder if Romney should win the popular vote but lose the election will those people on the Left scream again as loudly about the Electoral College or will they be embracing that part of the Constitution?)

The guy that busted this field director has busted many people including the uber-socialist group, ACORN.

James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas, known for its hidden-camera probe of the controversial national community organizing group tied to Obama, ACORN, carried out the investigation and provided the video exclusively to WND.

The field director has immediately resigned. But I would like to see criminal charges brought against him.

Furthermore, Jim Moran is no angel either. I mean, when a Democrat gets punished by Nancy Pelosi you know he is out there.

Jim Moran, 67, a controversial figure in Congress, has been criticized for his collaboration with Islamic leaders with ties to terrorism. In 2003, Moran, then a regional whip in the House of Representatives, was punished by House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi after he suggested Jews were responsible for the push for war against Iraq.

Back to the voter fraud thing. Notice here that there is not just a plan but obviously a safety net in spite of the new Virginia laws. Human nature. If you make it to easy for everyone then it is too easy to act fraudulently. We go from the 'how to'...

Moran suggests creating fake utility bills to serve as voter ID. But he warns that there will be “a lot of voter protection” at the polling places to enforce the identification laws.

“So, if they just have the utility bill or bank statement – bank statement would obviously be tough … but faking a utility bill would be easy enough,” Moran says.

The reporter asks: “How would you do that?”

“I mean, I would just find, I don’t know,” Moran replies. “I guess. …”

“Microsoft Word and type it up,” offers the reporter.

...to the 'safety net'...

Moran emphasizes that the poll workers will be “trained up” on the new law to protect voters and “be cracking down.”

If there’s any trouble, he says, an Obama for America lawyer, or another Democrat lawyer, will be on hand to provide help, he said.

“You’ll have somebody in house, that if they feel that what you have is legitimate, they’ll argue for you,” Moran says.

But he warns the reporter that the utility bill has “got to look good.”

...to the advice on making the fraud safer...

Later, at the Arlington County Democratic Party office, Moran advises the reporter to contact the registered voters on the list to make sure they don’t plan to cast a ballot Nov. 6. He suggests obtaining the information by posing as a pollster.

Again, this is not an isolated incident. The reporter is working for Project Veritas and has had interesting results just this year alone.

As WND reported, earlier this month O’Keefe’s team captured on video a regional director of the voter mobilization group launched by Barack Obama, Organizing for America, helping an undercover reporter vote for the president in two states.

And wait, there's more.

This year, Project Veritas says it has been conducting an ongoing series of investigations in more than a dozen states “demonstrating the ease with which election fraud can be committed and legitimate voters can be disenfranchised.”

The group’s previous effort in Texas, New Jersey, New York and Connecticut shows Obama campaign workers, including Organizing for America Regional Field Director Stephanie Caballero, helping people who declare they want to commit election fraud. The investigation was inspired by a column by WND columnist Chuck Norris.

Just when you thought it was safe to say that elections are safe...

In April, a Project Veritas investigator was offered the ballot of Attorney General Eric Holder at a polling place.

Think carefully as you look at Question 2 on your Minnesota ballot this year. Think carefully as you try to pull the lever against safer elections. Think carefully how comfortable you are with the system. If your opposing political party controlled the area you live in would you want the present system of not being required to do anything but sign your name on the list of registered voters? And then relying on a partisan Secretary of State office to validate everything?

Illegal to rent to illegals?

As our general rule goes... If the ACLU is for something, we're against it. If the ACLU is against something, we're for it... and in this case, we're really for it.

To Quote the Associated Press:

Two civil rights groups filed a lawsuit Tuesday challenging a suburb's new law that outlaws renting to undocumented illegal immigrants, alleging the ordinance violates federal law and forces landlords to act as immigration officers.
The Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund and the American Civil Liberties Union filed the suit on behalf of residents and landlords in Farmers Branch, Texas.
Plaintiffs include two landlords as well as Latino legal permanent residents and U.S. citizen children who fear the ordinance will force them to separate from relatives or leave their homes, the suit said.
The law, along with a measure that made English the official language of the city, was passed in November and is scheduled to go into effect Jan. 12.

Well, these organizations always seam to be confused with the word undocumented "Illegal" so let me help them out:

Okay. So, the definition of undocumented "Illegal" is something forbidden by law or statute (like my summer driving). That’s pretty easy. So, to use this cool new word we've all learned together, things that are undocumented "illegal" are forbidden.

Then it goes on to define for us undocumented "Illegal Alien" (which is interchangeable with undocumented "Illegal Immigrant," you can look it up if you don't believe me) as a foreigner who enters the country unlawfully or without our (the United States of America's) authorization.

This is fun. In general, Undocumented Illegal Immigrants are not cool. You still with me, ACLU?

Now, thanks to them being undocumented "Illegal" we can do things like tell employers that they can not be hired and deny them things like 'government assistance' for housing. This is where it really gets fun.

HOW THE JUNK ARE YOU GOING TO LEGALLY PAY FOR YOUR APARTMENT IF YOU DON'T HAVE A LEGAL FRACK'IN JOB!?

Seriously! Can anyone at the ACLU answer this one for me? And donations from the Anti-Christian Liberties Union whops... American Communist Liberties Union was that in my outside voice? Ah Hem! Handouts from the American Civial Liberties Union don't count.

So, IF for some reason, an undocumented illegal immigrant could pay for their nice little apartment in Dallas, one of the things you need to show when getting an apartment is a form of ID, and there’s this whole renters credit thing that you get for renting instead of owning, and if you're not supposed-to be here anyway, well, that just fracks that whole thing up. Its a total paperwork mess, not to mention the people trying to get an apartment or whatever are here undocumentedly ILLEGALY! They should be shipped back home, politely asked to remove the Mexican Flag from the back window of their Ford F-150, and to apply for citizenship, in which case, Tony and I will welcome them with open arms, so that they may be assimilated into our culture.

But until that day... Until they have paperwork saying they are here legally, they are not entitled to a place to work, a place to live, or a pot to pee in. They are entitled to Jack.

Fired Illegals Sue Former Employer

This is a tricky situation...on the surface.

A group of illegal immigrants who worked for Wendy's International Inc. is suing the restaurant chain because the company fired them after discovering it had missed a deadline for joining a federal program that would have helped them attain legal status.

40 illegal immigrants say they were fired after the company recently found that Boyar & Miller, the law firm Wendy's had hired, never filed paperwork for a 2001 legalization program that allowed immigrants with employer sponsorship or an American spouse to apply for citizenship.

Now on the one hand they were fired because Wendy's contracted bunch of lawyers failed to file paperwork on behalf of the Wendy's employees to make the employees "legal immigrants". So, yeah, I could understand the reasoning behind the lawsuit.

On the other hand, they are illegal immigrants and should not be employed in the first place.

So really, the loser of this case is going to be the one who disregarded the law more. Either the company will lose and will have to pay out...that they get for hiring illegals in the first place. Or the illegals will lose and get nothing...that they get for disregarding the laws about legally entering this country.

Again, the answer to illegal immigration is fining heavily the companies that hire illegals...very heavily. Then this kind of thing would not happen...and the incentive for illegals to come here to this country would disaapear.
