Red Wing school shooting
--posted by Tony Garcia on 3/22/2005While tragic there are two things that I keep noticing.
One: Most news reports do not mention that this was an Indian kid. Why not?
Two: Why are we (Americans) sending our police forces in to help them? I thought they were a sovereign nation. The Indian tribes need to decide 100% one way or the other...are they seperate from the United States of America and Minnesota jurisdiction or are they a part of it. This pick and choose crap needs to end.
Tragic as this story is, I think our citizens should NOT go onto the reservation at all. Let them go through the US Embassy and request assistance.

If you knew better than to just shout Nazi at everyone, I'd be surprised that you didn't know why Indian Reservations get assistance from the state and federal government. The answer? Because the state and Federal governments decreed that by law.
Indian Reservations aren't sovereign states--obviously, there's no passport control when you go to Mystic Lake. Their status is somewhere between state and county, owing to a mismash of contradictory laws.
150 years ago, the Indians would've been happy to have some sovereign land. The United States decided not to give them any. To bitch about that now, while you're living on land that was taken from either the Lakota or Ojibway (depending on where you are in Minnesota) seems pretty damn churlish.
You need to read WHY I call one specific group "Nazis-in-training"...or else GET OFF MY BLOG.
Wow--I'm sorry I posted a response to you that questions your opinion.
Your respect for intellectual give-and-take is laudable.
I've had a blog for 2 1/2 years. Not once in that time have I ever suggested someone "get off my blog."
But I'll get off of yours. Your argument for why you call those who believe in the sanctity of marriage and the primacy of spousal wishes in end-of-life decisions "Nazis" is ridiculously simplistic.
Godwin's Law. Fifteen yard penalty, and loss of down.
Anyone who resorts to calling one's opponents Nazis has already lost the debate. That's been an ironclad rule in cyberspace since the early '90's. If that's the best you can do, you've lost.
I do not throw the names without reason. the onerous part of your response is that you are acting like i take the democrat plybook of calling everyone who disagrees a nazi. sadly you continue that assumption (1) incorrectly and (2) not germane to this thread.
please don't get me wrong. I do appreciate your feedback on the topic (indian sovereinty). i disagree with your conclusion (obviously) but that is fine. I do not mind you talking down to me.
i do mind "If you knew better than to just shout Nazi at everyone". I do know better. do a little fact checking and see who i refer to Nazis-in-training. you will find that it is ONE group on ONE topic and it is because theri arguements are exactly the same as the Nazis of the early 1930s.
