Should McGwire be banned?

--posted by Tony Garcia on 3/19/2005

This is an interesting piece about how McGwire's willingness to be the fall guy for baseball saved Selig and company from being under more scrutiny.

A very good question remains. What should be done with those who used steroids, especially after they became illegal in 1991?

One idea (that Shoeless Joe Jackson and Pete Rose probably support) is a lifetime ban. McGwire does not deserve to be in the Hall of Fame considering most of his heroics came with the assistance of performance-enhancing steroids.

Curses again to the quest for stadiums:
"when he and owners were more interested in getting new stadiums and figuring out ways to raise parking rates than they were about ensuring a level playing field."

And the comical line from Bud Selig, "There is no testing evidence [of major steroid usage]". DUH! There was no testing at all.

What a sham.
