Why Gutknecht should not run for Senate
--posted by Tony Garcia on 3/26/2005This vote on the Terri Schiavo bill is more proof why Gutknecht should not run for Senate. He was unable to take a stand on this issue. Too afraid is what I reckon. I would not have voted for him in the general election.
At least there were 261 Congreemen who took a stand. The other 174 (Gutknecht included) did not have the backbone to vote one way or another. Even Betty McCollum, who had so much to say against the bill, did not have the guts to vote agianst it. Shameful.
UPDATE: I may be corrected. From an anonymous poster: "I read in the paper that Gutknecht was on congressional business in europe. He offered to fly back to vote for the bill, but the leadership told him that the legislation would succeed without him."
If anyone has any links that support this I would appreciate them being forwarded.
