USC vs Texas
--posted by Tony Garcia on 1/04/2006OK...while trying to update my blog's archives and watch the Rose Bowl I decided to live blog the 4th quarter of the Rose Bowl. During commercials I will blog updates. Being that I wanted to play baseball at USC and that is my hometown team I'm obviously rooting for USC.
Reggie Bush flies through the air with the greatest of ease...and scores on a 26 yard run to give the Trojans a 31-23 lead.
OK...not a commercial, but a worthy moment to blog. "After further review the ruling on the field stands." With that a Texas fumble is ruled an incomplete pass.
A Texas FG cuts the USC lead down to 31-26 with 8:50 left in the game.
TOUCHDOWN...22 yard pass from Leinart to Jarrett, but with 2 Longhorns hurt on the play the extra point is still to come. They had a helmet to helmet collision. 37-26.
Extra point is good...38-26.
17 yard touchdown run by Vince Young and the extra point is good...USC leads 38-33 with 4:03 left in the game.
4th & 2...going for it. Don't make it. Now the heat is on the USC defense as Texas takes over from their own 44.
Big play...5 yard facemask against USC that gave Texas a 1st down on what would have been a 4th & 4.
On 4th & 5 Vince Young scores a touchdown that gives the Longhorns a 39-38 lead with the PAT to come. :19 left and 0 time outs for USC.
2 point conversion is good and Texas holds a 41-38 lead.
And that is the final...41-38. Congratulations to the Texas Longhorns who now have the longest current winning streak in College Football AND are the National Champions.
