Sex is good for something else
--posted by Tony Garcia on 4/07/2005OK, the study at the University of Queensland's Brain Institute did not study the connection between sex and warding off dementia. The study did find that exercise of both physical and mental types helped to "create and nuture new nerve cells in the brian".
It all has to do with a chemical that is called prolactin which "promote[s] new cells in the brain."
So where in the story does the sex come into play?
Perry Bartlett (a professor at the Institute) said that "Prolactin levels also go up during sex as well. So one could think of a number of more entertaining activities than running in order to regulate the production of nerve cells."
Life is much better...sex makes your brain better.
