Al Lewis

Al Lewis lived on Roosevelt Island, an island that lies between Manhattan and Queens in the East River of New York City. In 2003, he was hospitalized for an angioplasty, and complications from the surgery led to an emergency bypass and the amputation of his right leg below the knee and all the toes on his left foot. Despite his age and illness, Lewis continued to make public appearances until shortly before his death. He died on 3 February 2006, of natural causes in hospital. His age at the time of his death was either 82 or 95. There is question about his birth year which is being reported as either 1910 or 1923.
