Dodgers run streak to 11

--posted by Tony Garcia on 8/09/2006

The Dodgers hit the grove I was expecting. Greg Maddux made his 2nd start for the Dodgers since being traded from the Cubs and pitched a solid 6 innings. Wilson Betemit seems happy with his new home. He hit his 12 HR, 3rd since becoming a Dodger, and .306 as a Dodger. That is 25 points higher than with the Braves before he was traded.

The Dodgers won their 11th straight. This matches their longest streak since 1993 and puts them within in striking distance of their franchise record of 15 wins in a row set in 1924.

They are now within 1/2 game of first place San Diego and tied for the Wild Card lead with slumping Cincinnati. I stand by the prediction that the Dodgers will make the playoffs (thanks in large part to their deadline trades) and in the National League this year just making the playoffs gives you a great chance to be in the World Series.
