Cheerleaders fired, players keep playing

--posted by Tony Garcia on 11/09/2005

Recently there was a story about some Carolina Panther cheerleaders that got into some legal problems. For their exploits they are receiving offers to pose in Penthouse.

But the thing about this story that really caught my eye was the Panthers went ahead and fired the cheerleaders for "violating a signed code that bans conduct embarrassing to the team or organization".

What about the players who act in conduct that is embarrassing to the team? Look at the Vikings...no one was released within a week of Das Booty. How about Ray Lewis who still plays for the Baltimore Ravens? Jamal Lewis who served time in jail...he's still playing for the Ravens also. Drug charges...they get several chances before getting banned for a whole season (Ricky Williams!!!) So why the double standard for the cheerleaders?

Final thought: Someone in the marketing should be fired for not sticking up for these girls. Imagine how much they could charge for tickets now?
