Religious Outrage
--posted by Tony Garcia on 2/04/2006I have watched for many years as various religious groups get their panties in a bunch about being offended.
What follows is not for anyone who cannot handle criticism.
There is not any question in my mind that the majority of Democrats have a deep animosity against Christianity in general. Not religion, but Christianity. Those who belong to a church have a conflicting exemption for their own wing. Religion, as described by liberal Tammy Bruce, threatens many of the tenets of their politics. And to many of them politics is more important than everything.
There is not any question in my mind that the majority of Americans have an animosity against Muslims in general. Hard not to when a fast food, lazy minded, generally stupid group is attacked by radicals that represent, not the majority of the religion, but a large part of the religion.
There should be no question in the mind of anyone in the world that Arabs hate Jews. No explanation needed.
With the exception of the Republicans people treat religion as a necessary evil. Unless you are a part of the same religion most people accept religion in the same manner as they do a handicap person...don't want to offend by making obvious the apprehension of their presence. The Republicans have an equally unhealthy OPPOSITE approach. If you are not religious you have no place as an equal of ours.
Both are offensive, unhealthy for a society and immoral in my view. Which is why I do not support organized religion. There is a God (or are Gods) but NONE of these organized religions represent that concept.
That is not what this post is about, though. What I find universal is the level of hypocrisy in religious outrage. EVERY SINGLE RELIGION gets worked up about their own offense and could not give a damn about offenses to other religions. And we are seeing that this week in spades.
Christians are outraged over a coming episode of Will & Grace where Crucifiction is 'being mocked'.
Oh, and lest we forget the uproar that caused 'Book of Daniel' to be cancelled this week.
Yes, these things are insensitive. So, don't watch the shows. Mounting protests and organizing efforts to shut these things down is, to me, as repressive as the reaction to recent "offensive cartoons".
Oh, wait. Not those. But here is an interesting question...where was the Christian outrage over these? For that matter, where was the Jewish outrage over the above mention TV shows? And I have not seen anything about the Muslims being upset about any of this. (All of the above came from Arab publications, btw.)
The Muslims are upset about these:
So while everyone gets upset about their own being offended I sit back and wonder why they only care about their own. Is the really heavenly thing to do is look out for your own only? Let's hear Pat Robertson bitch about the anti-Muslim cartoons. Let's hear some Muslim outrage over the anti-Jew cartoons (which incidently ran in Muslim newspapers...those hypocrits!!). Let's hear some Democrats voice serious outrage against those TV shows. Let's hear a Jewish prayer or Muslim prayer in a Republican meeting.
Until then...all of you get a sense of humor, a sense of perspective, have a Coke and a smile and shut the hell up.

You offend me. ;)
But WHAT offends you? My lack of deodorant? My failure to brush my teeth? My weekly showers?
I don't know about the Democrats harboring animosity towards Christianity, but I'm 100% with you on the Muslim/Jew thing. I'm so sick of the hypocrisy of the majority of Muslims I know--they always whine about everything done against any Muslim but only half-heartedly condemn all the wrongs Muslims commit. Plus, wouldn't you know it, many are now dropping conspiracy theories out of their asses. This is probably the first time I'm seriously ashamed of the majority of the Muslim world. To anyone who's listening, please accept my apologies on behalf of people who profess the same faith as I; I may not be able to miraculously alter the way they think but I'll keep trying.
Hope everything's going well with you. Take care, Munazza
You as an individual have begun already the correction within your religion. You are breaking the silence...and silence is support. You have to speak up constantly. Be the leader of the "they are not our representatives" movement. YOU can make a change...even if only locally it would be a change.
