Guests, events and debates

--posted by Tony Garcia on 2/07/2006

OK, as little as I like sharing the air time with anyone besides Marty & Tommy (cuz I have so much I want say and I want to hear all of it) I have set up a number of events in the coming months.

First of all, ANY candidate listed on the campaign scorecard here is welcome to have a fairly free 7-10 minute interview as part of our "Getting to know you" series. Who are you, why are you running, etc. While we are lobbing a few softballs there are of course some real questions. But we have been very fair to the DFL candidates that come on (Scotty Mortenson, will you vouch for us please?). So, contact us to set up a quick interview if you want one...GOP or DFL. Our latest was this past week with Mark Ritchie.

We are also looking to host a number of events with the various candidates. The next one is with all of the GOP candidates for the 6th Congressional Seat. This coming Sunday each of them will pose a question to the rest of the field. Listen to the candidates answer questions from each other.

We have also been setting up debates for the various races. Here is the status of those in studio debates:
6th District GOP...March 19, 1PM-3PM

...Bachmann--confirmed... called 7:30 PM, is not attending events because of surgery
...Esmay--confirmed...
...Knoblach--confirmed... no-showed
...Krinkie--confirmed... called on 3/17...has a funeral to attend
6th District DFL...April 2, 1PM-2PM

...Tinklenberg--confirmed... no-showed
...Wetterling--contacted, no response
DFL Senate...April 9, 1PM-2PM

...Bell--confirmed...
...Klobuchar--contacted 4x, no response...
GOP Senate...April 9, 2PM-3PM

...Kennedy--invited, attendance unknown... invited personally and no-showed
...Shudlick--confirmed...
...Uldrich--confirmed...
DFL Secretary of State...April 23, 1PM-2PM

...Ritchie--confirmed...
...Sande--confirmed...

Other races we are looking to host live on-air debates interviews for are the DFL Governor and now the DFL 6th. I have a feeling that the DFL 6th will not happen as we tried to get Tinklenberg to respond before and the resulting interview was, well, not what we expected. Here it is.

ONE LAST EVENT that I want to highlight is on Feb 26 from 1PM-3PM...the "Race to the Right Answer--No Politics Allowed Version" being broadcast live from JP's Grille & Bar in Sauk Rapids, MN. Bachmann (called at 7:30 PM on 2/25, can't attend due to schedule conflict, called 9:00 AM 2/25 to confrim and get directions, called 2/23 to confirm appearance), Esmay, and Knoblach (called 3PM 2/25 with schedule conflict, called personally on 2/22 to confirm appearance) (showed up for 1/2 AFTER posting on blog calling him to the carpet) Krinkie (called 2/19 with scheduling conflict) will be there to play trivia games. Did I mention no politics are allowed? Feel free to come out for this event and one other historical reason: Race to the Right's FIRST remote event.

********** UPDATE ********** 2/8/06 11:28 AM
Knoblach's campaign called me to confirm the debate and the JP's Grille & Bar event. The changes have been made in this posting.

********** UPDATE ********** 2/19/06
Krinkie's campaign sent an e-mail indicating they have bumped us from the schedule. This would be a confirmation that was verbally made while scheduling the event almost 5 weeks ago that is bumped 1 week prior to the event.

********** UPDATE ********** 2/22/06 1:59 PM
Tinklenberg's campaign called to confirm their participation in the debates.

********** UPDATE ********** 3/9/06 8:52PM
Uldrich confirmed his participation in the GOP Senate race debate.

********** UPDATE ********** 4/4/06 1:47PM
Updated the list (including no-shows) of debates.

********** UPDATE ********** 4/10/06 1:51PM
Updated the list to include Mark Kennedy's no-show.
